THE TIGER & THE SNOWFLAKE

A living graphic novel and interactive mural series by LMNOZ.

JOIN THE TIGER HUNT

Six frames of the story are painted across the large entrance wall at Marquee. The tiger follows the snowflake, but the ending is missing.

Find the first surprise ending. From the entrance mural, walk halfway down Marquee and look along the left-hand wall. The seventh panel is waiting there.

Found it? Scan the QR code beside the panel to reveal the tiger’s next destination, a reward, and another possible ending.

The Tiger & Snowflake story begins at Marquee.

Take home part of the story.

Look closely. Selected frames have been recreated on individual canvases and installed directly over their painted twins. Each original canvas is available for purchase. Ask the front desk, and they will remove your chosen piece from the wall.

What happens to the mural? The story remains. Beneath every removable canvas, the same image has been painted directly onto the wall.

But not forever. When the mural is painted over, the canvas you take home becomes one of the only surviving pieces of the installation: one frame rescued from a fleeting work of art.

When innocence meets danger.

The snowflake represents innocence, curiosity, and the childlike ability to encounter the world without fully understanding its dangers. The tiger embodies power, risk, responsibility, and consequence.

Sometimes the dangers and fears of the adult world arrive far too early. The tiger is more than adulthood approaching with age. It is also the trauma that can intrude upon childhood without warning.

But the tiger does not get to decide how the story ends.

The snowflake may remake the tiger.

Fear can be confronted. Experience can be reclaimed. What once seemed terrifying can be transformed into something entirely different, perhaps even something beautiful.

The snowflake and the tiger are not necessarily opposites. They are two parts of the same life, and there can be great beauty in how we carry both.

If you own a frame, you own the surviving story.

Each acrylic-on-canvas work is an original element of an installation designed to disappear. The wall will become another story, while your canvas remains as a physical record of this shared experience.

This is the first in a series of interactive LMNOZ works appearing throughout Asheville. Alternative endings will be revealed at The Marquee and around the city as new chapters are released.
